'Iconic' Neuschwanstein Castle becomes UNESCO World Heritage Site
In southern Bavaria, the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Three other royal residences, known as "dreams in stones", also constructed in the late 19th Century under the famously arts-obsessed King Ludwig II of Bavaria, will also be added to the list: Herrenchiemsee, Linderhof and Schachen. These monuments have been officially applying for this status since 2015.
