“World Oral Health Day, marked annually on 20 March, draws attention to oral health being a key indicator of overall health, well-being and quality of life.
Oral diseases are among the most common noncommunicable diseases worldwide, affecting an estimated 3.5 billion people,” Wazed said.

Germany reopens embassy in Damascus after 13-year closure

GERMANY has reopened its embassy in Damascus after a 13-year closure, Syrian media reported on Thursday, coinciding with a visit by German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.
Baerbock’s trip, her second to Syria since the collapse of former President Bashar al-Assad’s government in December 2024, saw the reopening of the diplomatic mission. German media, citing Baerbock, reported that a small number of diplomats, fewer than 10, will be stationed at the reopened embassy.

Media defames security forces

THE malicious media spread fake information, claiming that security forces torched the village and opened fire using heavy and small weapons in Ngatayaw village, Yesakyo Township, Magway Region, on 19 March, and the villagers had fled their villages.
According to a local security official, such news was invalid. Security forces conducted security measures in Yesakyo Township and did not take any security measures in Ngatayaw village on that day.

Platu fish, naturally caught in Pyapon Township, continue to be supplied to the Yangon market. In January, only 55,000 viss of Platu fish were sold, compared to 77,000 viss in February.

France to deploy nuclear-armed planes to German border

France will upgrade one of its main air bases along its border with Germany to host Rafale fighter planes armed with nuclear cruise missiles, President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday. 

The Luxeuil-Saint-Sauveur base in eastern France hosted nuclear weapons until 2011, when the planes were relocated to a different site. 

 “The Luxeuil air base is about to be upgraded in an unprecedented way and regain its full role in France’s nuclear deterrent,” Macron said.
