President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh and President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov held official talks during a state visit, elevating bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Partnership and signing over ten agreements to expand cooperation in various sectors.

Mongolian President Khurelsukh extended an invitation to the Kyrgyz delegation to visit his homeland, describing it as the cradle of Central Asian history and culture, renowned for its natural beauty. He expressed his sincere gratitude to President Japarov, as well as to the government and people of the Kyrgyz Republic, for their warm and gracious welcome.

The two leaders emphasized that the current state visit marks a transition from traditionally friendly relations to a Comprehensive Partnership, a significant milestone in the history of bilateral ties.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with his Croatian counterpart Gordan Grlić-Radman in Beijing on Monday.

The meeting held to enhance exchanges at all levels and strengthen the alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative with Croatia’s development strategies. The meeting focused on future cooperation based on the principles of openness, transparency and mutual benefit, enhancing multilateral coordination and cooperation, and multilateralism and free trade to jointly address global challenges.

Japan's 27th House of Councillors election concluded on Monday morning with a stunning defeat for the ruling coalition of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and its partner Komeito.

Of the seats contested, the LDP won just 39, while Komeito secured eight. Even when combined with their uncontested seats, the two parties fell short of the 125-seat threshold required for a majority in the 248-seat upper house, marking the first time since the LDP's founding in 1955 that the ruling bloc has lost majority control in both houses of parliament.

The Ishiba administration now faces mounting pressure. With both chambers under minority control, it must seek cooperation from opposition parties to pass legislation and advance its agenda. The weakened mandate also limits Japan's diplomatic flexibility, particularly in negotiations with the United States.

During the phone conversation on Saturday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan talked about Iran’s nuclear program, and the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran.

Pezeshkian reiterated “the transparency and peaceful nature” of Iran’s nuclear activities. He stressed that Iran has always supported the promotion of peace, and has never sought war and insecurity.

In his talks, Pezeshkian also hailed the “historical, friendly and constructive” relations between Iran and Armenia, stressing that Iran’s policy is to promote “constructive” interactions with all neighbors while respecting all states’ territorial integrity.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun Monday received the United States Ambassador to Turkey and the U.S. Special Envoy for the Syrian file, accompanied by a high-level delegation headed by American businessman and diplomat Thomas Barrack.

President Aoun reaffirmed the Lebanese Army’s commitment to maintaining stability along Lebanon’s borders and safeguarding national sovereignty amid regional tensions. He expressed appreciation for continued international support, particularly from the United States, in enhancing the army’s operational capabilities.

Russia has shown a positive reaction to Ukraine's proposal to hold a new round of direct talks on a ceasefire. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said on Saturday that his country had proposed a new meeting with Russia to be held this week. Russia's state-run media have quoted informed sources as saying that the Kremlin will likely announce a date for the meeting soon, and that the Turkish city of Istanbul will likely remain the host city.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said in an interview broadcast by state television on Sunday that President Putin has repeatedly spoken of his desire to bring the Ukrainian issue to a peaceful conclusion as soon as possible. He also stressed that the main thing for Russia is to achieve its goals. Russia has been demanding Ukraine's neutrality and restrictions on its military forces in exchange for a ceasefire.

Iran and the three European countries of France, Germany and Britain, collectively known as the E3, have agreed to resume negotiations over Tehran's nuclear program, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported Sunday.

Quoting an "informed source" without giving the name, Tasnim said Iran and the E3 are holding consultations on the date and venue of the negotiations. According to the report, the upcoming negotiations are expected to be held at the level of deputy foreign ministers. Iran and the E3 have held several rounds of talks covering Tehran's nuclear program and the removal of sanctions, among other issues, since September 2024.

Pope Leo XIV slammed the "barbarity" of the war in Gaza on Sunday and urged against the "indiscriminate use of force".  The pope, who spoke by telephone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the morning after Thursday's strike, spoke of his "deep sorrow" for the attack on the Holy Family Church.

Israel expressed "deep sorrow" over the damage and civilian casualties, adding that the military was investigating the strike. The pope also expressed his "sympathy" for the plight of "beloved Middle Eastern Christians" and their "sense of being able to do little in the face of this dramatic situation".

Sudan's Prime Minister Kamil Idris on Saturday pledged to rebuild Khartoum, ravaged by more than two years of war, as he made his first visit to the capital since assuming office in May. Touring Khartoum's destroyed infrastructure earlier, the new premier outlined mass repair projects in anticipation of the return of at least some of the over 3.5 million people who fled the violence.

"Khartoum will return as a proud national capital," Idris said, according to Sudan's state news agency. On a visit to Sudan's largest oil refinery, the Al-Jaili plant, just north of Khartoum, Idris promised that "national institutions will come back even better than they were before".
