The State Administration Council has enacted the Myanmar Coast Guard Law on July 17, designated as Law No. 41/2025.

The new law comprises 13 chapters and 47 articles, outlining the establishment, functions, powers, and responsibilities of the Myanmar Coast Guard. Chinese Vice President meets South Africa's Deputy President

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng on Thursday met with South African Deputy President Paul Mashatile in Beijing.

Han said this opened a new chapter in building a high-level community with a shared future between the two countries. Peace Efforts: Armed ethnic groups and PDF members return to legal fold

The State Administration Council is inviting armed groups, including PDF members, to rejoin the legal framework.

Those who come back receive support such as financial incentives and assistance. Some armed ethnic groups and PDF members, after seeing their violent actions causing harm to civilians and losing public support, are now willing to lay down arms and cooperate under the law.

Approval for Party Establishment : UEC approved applications to establish party

Individuals wishing to establish political parties have been submitting applications to the Union Election Commission (UEC), stating their proposed party names.

To date, a total of 27 organizations have applied for permission to establish a party. Among these applicants, the Peace and Development Party and the New Generation Wunthanu Party were found to comply with the Political Parties Registration Law and by-laws. Consequently, the Commission approved their applications for party establishment on July 16.

Individuals wishing to establish political parties have been submitting applications to the Union Election Commission (UEC), stating their proposed party names.

To date, a total of 27 organizations have applied for permission to establish a party. Among these applicants, the Peace and Development Party and the New Generation Wunthanu Party were found to comply with the Political Parties Registration Law and by-laws. Consequently, the Commission approved their applications for party establishment on July 16.

However, the UEC, based on the findings from relevant ministries, rejected the application of the People Power For Democracy Party (PPD). This rejection was made in accordance with the UEC's plenary meeting decision No. 30/2025, as their application did not comply with the provisions of Section 4 of the Political Parties Registration Law.

Similarly, the application from the Lishaw National Party was also rejected, as it did not comply with the provisions of Section 6 of the Political Parties Registration Law, as per the assessments from relevant ministries. Both rejections were issued, on 16th July, using Form (C) of the Political Parties Registration Bylaws. As of July 16, 21 political parties have been granted permission to establish, while 5 political parties have had their applications rejected.
