Iran and the three European countries of France, Germany and Britain, collectively known as the E3, have agreed to resume negotiations over Tehran's nuclear program, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported Sunday.

Quoting an "informed source" without giving the name, Tasnim said Iran and the E3 are holding consultations on the date and venue of the negotiations. According to the report, the upcoming negotiations are expected to be held at the level of deputy foreign ministers. Iran and the E3 have held several rounds of talks covering Tehran's nuclear program and the removal of sanctions, among other issues, since September 2024.

People across Japan are having their say in an election for the Upper House. All eyes are on whether the ruling coalition can keep their majority, after losing its grip on the Lower House last year. Voting began at 7 a.m. Sunday and polling places are open until 8 p.m., except for areas such as remote islands. There are more than 44,000 polling stations nationwide. Over 21 million people voted early.

The Diet's upper chamber has 248 seats, with half up for grabs every three years. This year, 125 are contested, including one vacancy -- a now-former lawmaker who was elected in 2022. More than 500 candidates are vying for a seat in electoral districts, or by proportional representation.

The Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda-backed armed group M23 signed a ceasefire deal on Saturday to end fighting that has devastated the country's mineral-rich but conflict-torn east.

The Parties commit to uphold their commitment to a permanent ceasefire, including refraining from hate propaganda" and any attempt to seize by force new positions, said the truce signed in the Qatari capital, Doha, which follows a separate Congolese-Rwandan peace deal signed in Washington last month.

Hundreds of thousands of supporters of Bangladesh's main party rallied on Saturday, demanding an overhaul of the electoral system as the country gears up for polls next year. The Jamaat-e-Islami party has gained significant momentum since the ousting of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a popular uprising last year.

During her tenure, Hasina took a hardline stance against Jamaat, even cancelling its registration as a political party. Last month, the Supreme Court restored the party's registration, paving the way for its participation in elections slated for next April. Many Bangladeshis believe the party must acknowledge its past to regain public trust and become a viable electoral force.

Cameroon's long-running President Paul Biya has officially submitted his candidacy for October's presidential vote, according to a list published on Friday by election authorities.

Maurice Kamto, 71, who came second to Biya in the 2018 presidential election, will stand for the African Movement for New Independence and Democracy, the party's leader Anicet Ekane confirmed to a local television station.

The 92-year-old Biya who has been serving as the second president of Cameroon since 1982 is seeking an eighth term in office and has been in power since 1982. So far, 19 candidates have signed up to stand in the October 12 election, including former Prime Minister Bello Bouba Maigari, an ally of Biya's for nearly 30 years, and Issa Tchiroma Bakary, who resigned as employment Minister in early June to submit his candidacy.

Qatar's Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Donald Trump's special advisor for Africa and Middle East, welcomed the ceasefire deal signed by the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda-backed armed group M23 in Doha, highlighting the participation of the international community in reaching the agreement.

The two sides signed a declaration of principles whose terms include a "permanent ceasefire" to end fighting that has devastated DR Congo's mineral-rich but conflict-torn east.

Ukrainian President Zelensky said Saturday that Kiev has proposed to hold a new round of peace talks with Moscow next week.

Rustem Umerov, who headed the Ukrainian delegation in the previous two talks in Istanbul, had sent the Russian side the offer to hold the meeting next week, Zelensky said in his evening address to the nation, adding that. "the momentum of the negotiations must be stepped up". Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov emphasized that Moscow favors a diplomatic resolution to the Ukraine conflict and is ready to negotiate.

Venezuela on Friday received seven children who had been left behind in the United States after their parents were deported by the Donald Trump administration. Seven boys and girls have been "rescued from the kidnapping to which they were being subjected," Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello said at Maiquetia International Airport that serves Caracas.

Cabello and First Lady Cilia Flores received the flight from Houston that also brought back 244 Venezuelans. Official figures show that since February, more than 8,200 people, including many children, have been repatriated to Venezuela from the United States and Mexico.

The 78th Anniversary Martyrs’ Day was observed at the Martyrs’ Mausoleum in Yangon on 19th July.

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the ceremony, and cordially greeted the family members of martyrs and guests. After that, the Prime Minister laid wreaths of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar at the mausoleum and paid tribute to late General Aung San and martyrs.

Union Ministers, Work Committee Chairman Yangon Region Chief Minister, senior military officers from the Commander-in-Chief Office, Commander of Yangon Command, deputy Ministers and attendees also paid tribute to fallen leaders. Meanwhile, the State Flag was lowered to half-mast.

The Guard of Honour presented arms and the military bugle sounded the last post, and then they observed a two-minute silence in remembrance of fallen martyrs leaders. This was followed by laying wreaths of the families of the martyrs, representatives from the Yangon Region government, those from political parties, heads of foreign missions to Myanmar and Charges d’ Affaires of foreign embassies. Representatives from various organizations and associations also laid wreaths to pay tribute at the mausoleum of General Aung San and fallen leaders. Likewise, people also paid tribute to the martyrs at the mausoleum.

U.S. President Trump on Friday signed a landmark stablecoin act into law at a White House ceremony, the first federal regulation in this regard. The Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins Act, or GENIUS Act, was passed by the U.S. Senate in June and by the House of Representatives on Thursday.

Trump has been a supporter of the bill and recently intervened in persuading some Republican lawmakers to vote for it. The act lays out standards for stablecoins, a kind of digital currency pegged to the U.S. dollar or other fiat currencies.

The Federal Reserve and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency would undertake overseeing of stablecoin issuance, according to the GENIUS Act. The act also creates requirements for issuers to regularly share information about their reserves in the form of U.S. currency, demand deposits, Treasuries and other "approved assets."
