Twelve members of the DPLA armed group, including one woman, returned to the legal fold, with weapons and ammunition.

The group turned in 13 guns including 12 Type-81s and one MA-1, over 1,500 ammunition. They were awarded 6.5 million kyats as a reward. The returnees stated they were ordinary villagers forcibly recruited and mistreated by armed groups. They escaped through villages in Naungcho Township and reported to the military near Nyaung Htauk Village. A handover ceremony was held in Pyin Oo Lwin, with military and local officials present.

The returnees signed pledges and were reunited with their families. Authorities say support will be provided to all who wish to return peacefully and surrender weapons, encouraging others to come forward through local administrators, military units, or police stations.

Tatmadaw columns are assisting ethnic locals in safely returning to Naungcho town, following recent operations that regained full control of the area from terrorist armed groups.

After clearing terrorists from Taung Kham and Naungcho on July 16, local residents welcomed the Tatmadaw’s presence and expressed support.

On July 18, efforts began to reopen government offices and restore essential services such as education, healthcare, and economic activities. Security forces and administrative officials have been working together to provide necessary supplies, including food and household items, donated by Shan State Government, Mandalay Region Government, and well-wishers. To ensure safe resettlement, mine clearance and area security operations are being carried out to remove landmines planted by terrorists.

On the morning of July 19, a military column reached Laungphan Village, about 7 miles northwest of Naungcho, and met with displaced ethnic locals who had fled during the terrorist occupation. The returning villagers welcomed the Tatmadaw and requested support for resettlement.

In response, Tatmadaw arranged transport, provided food, and helped move belongings back to their homes. Locals expressed gratitude and joy at being able to safely return to their native villages.

Tatmadaw has reopened the key road between Naungcho and Taung Kham after regaining full control from TNLA, DPLA, and MDY-PDF terrorist armed groups on July 16.

Local residents who had fled are now returning to their homes. On Saturday, Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung and senior officials met in Naungcho to coordinate efforts for restoring the town. Plans include restoring electricity, sanitation, education, healthcare, and local administration. Temporary clinics and schools will be set up, and security will be ensured for civil servants.

The government is also distributing food and supplies including rice, oil, beans and pulses, and fish paste, to each household. Officials visited religious sites, schools, hospitals, and staff housing, reaffirming their commitment to fully restore normal life in Naungcho.

Naung Cho town in northern Shan State has been fully regained by the Tatmadaw after previously being under temporary control of terrorist groups.

Local ethnic residents have welcomed and supported the Tatmadaw’s return, expressing happiness and cooperation in restoring peace and normalcy. Many residents who had fled due to conflict are now returning to their homes.

During the terrorists' control, civilians suffered from displacement, loss of property, human rights violations, and disruption of education, healthcare, and livelihoods. The Tatmadaw is now working to restore essential services, including repairing damaged infrastructure like government offices, schools, hospitals, and religious buildings. Mine clearance operations and security measures are also underway.

Government officials and volunteers have arrived in Naung Cho with food, supplies, and aid to assist returnees. Plans are in place to reopen schools, clinics, and administrative offices to help restore normal life. Local people expressed their desire for lasting peace, the return of education for their children, and full rehabilitation of the town. They also called for similar efforts in other towns still under the control of terrorists groups, so civilians can resume their daily lives in safety.

The public continues to place trust in Tatmadaw to provide security and counter ongoing threats from terrorists.

Terrorist groups are committing inhumane acts with the intent to disrupt the education system, which is dedicated to improving and advancing children's learning. These acts include the destruction of school textbooks and stationery, the intimidation and abduction of education staff and students, targeted killings, the planting of explosive devices to destroy educational buildings and sending threatening letters to the teachers.

Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 18 July 2025 at 9:30 AM, approximately 15 so-called PDF terrorists arrived at the Basic Education Primary School in Kyauk Khwat Village in Kyaukpadaung Township of Mandalay Region. They threatened the teachers not to open the school. Additionally, they locked the main gate and classroom doors. The school currently has five teachers and 52 students, it is reported.

It has been reported that the security personnel are investigating the culprits of the acts of terrorism from the above incident to take effective action in accordance with the law.

In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.

Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 18 July 2025 at 2:20 PM, a report stated that a woman was shot dead in Pat Ngar Sal Village, Sagaing Township of Sagaing Region. When security personnel conducted further investigation, the victim was identified as Daw Ohn Mar (54 years old), a resident of the village. The incident occurred on 17 July 2025 at 12:00 PM, when the victim was at her house, approximately 20 so-called PDF terrorists arriving by five motorcycles and a car and opened fire on her. As a result, Daw Ohn Mar died on the spot, it is reported.

Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the aforementioned case, it is reported.

MOHA

A total of 25 members from various armed groups, including KIA, KPF, DPLA, TNLA, and MDY-PDF, have surrendered their arms and re-entered civilian life under the government’s peace and reintegration program.

Among them, 10 members from KIA and KPF voluntarily returned to the legal fold in Putao, where they were welcomed at a ceremony attended by military officials, civil servants, and their families. They received support items and signed pledges to live peacefully under the law before being handed over to their guardians.

On separate occasion, 15 more individuals, 5 from DPLA and 10 from MDY-PDF, also returned through nearby military camps, expressing trust in the government's peace efforts and a desire to leave behind armed struggle.

Government officials confirmed that those who surrender peacefully and have not committed crimes will be accepted and supported. Additional surrenders are expected, and authorities are encouraging others to contact local administration offices or military units to reintegrate. Rewards will also be given for surrendering arms and ammunition.

When security personnel arrived at the scene for further investigation, the victim was identified as U Kyaw Htoo (62 years old), a sub-village in-charge and a resident of Lay Eain Su Village. The incident had occurred at 8:00 AM, while he was returning home from Ye Town on his motorcycle. He was gunned down near Thin Gan Kyun Village by a so-called PDF terrorist group. As a result, U Kyaw Htoo died on the spot, it is reported.

Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the aforementioned case, it is reported.

 Terrorists are ruthlessly carrying out abductions, killings and armed attacks, using both heavy and small weapons, on wards and villages, as well as conducting drone strikes, all with the intent to harm civilians and spread fear. They are also indiscriminately planting landmines on public roads, targeting government offices with explosives and engaging in destructive acts without regard for reason or morality.

 Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 16 July 2025 at 4:10 AM, a heavy weapon shell, fired by a combined group of KIA armed insurgents and so-called PDF terrorists exploded in Aye Yar Ward, Myitkyina Township of Kachin State. As a result, the Township Education Officer’s Office located in the ward was severely damaged. Additionally, Ma Kyal Sin Lin Lae (16 years old) and Mg Soe Moe Htet (15 years old), both residents of the ward, sustained shrapnel injuries. The injured children were transported to Myitkyina District Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.

 It has been reported that the security personnel are investigating the culprits of the acts of terrorism from the above incident to take effective action in accordance with the law.
