They were stranded on the beach a day before one of the strongest earthquakes ever recorded struck Russia's sparsely populated Far East causing tsunamis across the Pacific.

A Spanish military plane will fly 13 ailing children from Gaza and their families from Jordan to Spain for hospital treatment, Defence Minister said Wednesday. An A400 military transport aircraft is being fitted with medical equipment and is scheduled to depart later Wednesday for Amman to bring them to Spain. Spain has repeatedly taken in sick children since the start of the Israeli offensive in Gaza.

In a speech to mark Army Day on Thursday, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said his country was determined to disarm Hezbollah. Beirut is demanding the extension of the Lebanese state's authority over all its territory, the removal of weapons from all armed groups including Hezbollah and their handover to the Lebanese army.
