On July 5 and 6, Tatmadaw captured the final two strongholds of Mwetaw Pagoda area in the south and Nyaung Wine Ward in the east. It is reported that 24 bodies, 63 various weapons, and important documents and videos were seized. The terrorists used religious buildings, schools, and clinics for combat, while planting landmines along public roads, and using civilians as human shields.

Fighting displaced many civilians, including children and elderly, forcing them to flee to nearby towns. Following the Tatmadaw’s victory, security forces are now clearing the last 4.5 km stretch of road to reopen the main route linking Loikaw, Moebye, Pekhon, and Pinlaung. Authorities say efforts will begin soon to restore civil administration and help displaced residents return home, with landmine clearing being a priority.
